I supported two UCF departments: (SMCA Communications and Marketing) and WUCF Public Broadcasting Station.
- Administered Mac OS based network including Desktops, Laptops and Servers.
- Configured and maintained local XSAN implementation.
- Created, monitored and optimized the SAN LUN’s and NFS shares.
- Created and maintained automated workflows within Final Cut Server (Digital Asset Manager).

International Media Ventures

IMV was a civilian contractor working with the Military. I managed the IT department which included three engineers and an R&D department.
- Supervised all IT operations, including hiring of engineers and infrastructure redesign.
- Designed systems for the customer to include integration of COTS products with proprietary systems, non-classified to classified systems, and Open Source solutions to homegrown products.
- Purchased equipment for company operations and project-based solutions.
- Maintained a mixed environment that included Apple OS X, Linux (Ubuntu/Debian), Microsoft Server, Active Directory, Exchange 2003/2007, Cisco switches, and a virtual environment (VMware) running multiple web servers with Linux/Apache/PHP/MySQL.
- Configured Pfsense, an open source software-based firewall, to provide security for the company network.
- Developed IT security and usage polices that conformed to the Defense Security Service standards.
- Negotiated vendor contracts, which included software vendors, hosting locations, “Software as a Service” (SaaS) providers, and co-location providers.
- Designed and built an internal data center as well as contracted an off-site hot-site at Qwest communications data center in Tampa.
- Designed a backup solution that included using Amazon's S3 (Cloud Storage).

U-Turn Media Group
Systems Engineer • Aug 2007 — Dec 2008
U-Turn Meida Group was a Mobile Startup pre-iPhone era. Their man focus was on SymbianOS based in Central Europe. I was tasked with starting the US branch.
- Built custom web servers for internal and external customers using Ubuntu with a LAMP stack.
- Maintained source code in SVN repositories that were hosted on a development Ubuntu server.
- Designed and implemented a Trans-Atlantic video capturing and dissemination IPTV solution. Captured satellite broadcasts from Central Europe and redistributed them at a location in Tampa, FL via a point-point connection.
- Designed video distribution platforms. This included trans-coding video formats to meet bandwidth requirements with distribution to mobile phones, televisions, and standard desktops.
- Experience in MPEG-4 video manipulation, as well as MPEG-2. Codecs include Xvid, Divx, H.264, variations of MPEG-4 parts 2 and 10.
- Designed mobile phone video distribution middle-ware using Darwin Streaming Server, and Real Networks streaming server.
- Designed and built network infrastructure for office re-location to support 30+ users.
- Purchased workstations, laptops and mobile phones for all employees.
- Maintained and designed office network.
